Presidential Interview
Why should kids care? In a blog post. Explain why kids should care about the election. Give 3 things that stuck out to you from the interview. Write 2 questions that were not asked in the interview of President Obama that you would want to ask him.
Obama vs. Romney
Compare and contrast the two candidates. Reading the information given, find what they have in common and what is different between the two of them. Think about their positions on specific topics. What arguments do they make that are similar. In your group, you may make one double bubble or venn diagram to compare and contrast them as a group.
Candidate Campaing
We are having a class election, and you could be President! If you choose not to run, then you may support a candidate as their campaign manager. As President, you will need to write a slogan - a catchy phrase that will make people think of you and remember what you stand for. Throughout the week, you will write a speech to convince your classmates to vote for you. You will also have a brief ad, both print and commercial to gain students' votes! Sometimes candidates hand out stickers or pencils or something that will help to get people's vote. It is up to you how convincing you can be! Be creative!
Constitution -- Could you be President?
The US Constitution says specifically who can and cannot run for president. Read through Article II, Section 1 to answer the questions.
For question 4, During the 1920's, Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover all served as president. Pick one of them and give one thing that they did during their term that was important.
President Scavenger Hunt
Using the Ipad app, internet, and resources given, find at least one interesting fact about each of the presidents. You will need to try and get information about all of them, there are 44 so far. Make sure it is an interesting fact, what made that president special? This does not include what number president they were, or what their name is... it needs to be something that made them special or unique.
