invention of hugo cabret
We have just finished reading this amazing Graphic Novel by Brian Selznick! Now it's time to apply what we have learned. Below are some choice for you to make about what you are interested in learning more about.
Everyone must take the AR test for Hugo Cabret. Please raise your hand if it asks for a monitor's password.
Choose 3 activities below:
Explore Paris - Hugo rarely left the station, but through this virtual site, explore all the sites and attractions of Paris! Choose at least one location to put on our Google Map --> https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=ml
Reader's Theater - Create a video to reenact a scene from the story. You may look back through the book to choose a scene. Write a script and choose your characters and setting. You may need to come up with more dialogue in order to tell the full story. Record this video on the Ipad.
Georges Melies - Explore the website to learn more about Papa Georges. Mr. Selznick really did his research before writing this book. Write a letter to Mr. Melies explaining about the book and having a conversation about his work. You will need to read about him and explore the website before writing. Write this letter, using Friendly Letter Format, in your writing journal. Through your letter, you must somehow share five facts about Mr. Melies, WITHOUT saying "I learned that.."
Hugo Cabret - We have learned a lot about Hugo throughout this book. You need to write a 2 paragraph biography about Hugo's life. One paragraph needs to be about what we learned in the book, and the second paragraph must be about what you think happened in Hugo's life after the book ended. Be creative!
Book Jacket - The book jacket does not really show anything about the book. Create a book jacket for the story. This needs to include an illustration on the front and back covers. Inside the front flap needs to be a summary of the story and inside the back flap needs to be information about Brian Selznick. Read his biography to share some information on this part of the cover.
